John Neilson Robertson (born January 20, 1953) is a former professional footballer from Scotland. When Nottingham Forest won the 1979 European Cup Final, he provided the helping cross for Trevor Francis to score the game's only goal. He also won promotion from the Football League Second Division in 1976-77, the Football League First Division in 1977-78, the UEFA Super Cup, two Football League Cups, the 1978 FA Charity Shield, and the Anglo-Scottish Cup at Forest.
He also played for Scotland's national squad, scoring the game-winning goal against England in 1981 and the FIFA World Cup-winning goal against New Zealand in 1982.
He has recently moved into coaching, working as an assistant to Martin O'Neill, a former Nottingham Forest colleague. Between 2006 to 2010, Robertson served as assistant manager at Aston Villa.
