Collection: John Robertson
John Neilson Robertson (born January 20, 1953) is a former professional footballer from Scotland. When Nottingham Forest won the 1979 European Cup Final, he provided the helping cross for Trevor Francis to score the game's only goal. A year later, he scored in Forest's 1-0 victory over Hamburger SV to retain the trophy.
He also won promotion from the Football League Second Division in 1976-77, the Football League First Division in 1977-78, the UEFA Super Cup, two Football League Cups, the 1978 FA Charity Shield, and the Anglo-Scottish Cup at Forest.
He also played for Scotland's national squad, scoring the game-winning goal against England in 1981 and the FIFA World Cup-winning goal against New Zealand in 1982.
He has recently moved into coaching, working as an assistant to Martin O'Neill, a former Nottingham Forest colleague. Between 2006 to 2010, Robertson served as assistant manager at Aston Villa.
